A delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, consisting of 16 members, will stay from November 20th to 24th in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on an observation mission for the early elections for the president of Republika Srpska (RS), which will be held on November 23rd. During election day, eight Congress teams will be deployed throughout this BiH entity in order to monitor election procedures at polling stations.
During the mission, the delegation will meet with members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the international community, as well as members of the BiH delegation in the Congress.
Panel discussions with representatives of the media and non-governmental organizations are also planned, as well as meetings with candidates and representatives of political parties. Joint informative meetings with the OSCE/ODIHR core team are specially planned.
A joint press conference with the OSCE/ODIHR and the European Parliament delegation, at which the preliminary findings of the mission will be presented, will be held on Monday, November 24th, at 3 p.m. in the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Banja Luka.
The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe represents the local and regional authorities of all 46 member states of the Council of Europe and is responsible for promoting and monitoring local democracy.
