Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced today that the Council of the European Union has accepted Spain’s proposal to host an international Israeli-Palestinian peace conference in the next six months.

Speaking in Brussels, Sanchez said now was the time to offer a “concrete vision” of peace for the Middle East.
“Find a definitive solution that will enable the coexistence of two states – Israel and Palestine – in peace and security,” said Sanchez.

He further said that diplomats are already contacting countries in the United Nations to find political solutions to end this crisis. Sanchez also said he shared the idea of the conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone conversation last weekend.

Spanish television Cadena Ser reports that a peace conference is being planned in Madrid.
Sanchez said the seriousness of the developing crisis in Israel and Palestine “requires the international community to act urgently and courageously to end the violence, AA reports.
