Court extends Detention to Minister Bosnjak

At the proposal of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo extended the detention for another two months for Bojan Bošnjak, Minister of Municipal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection in the Government of Sarajevo Canton, suspected of committing the criminal offense of abuse of office or authority.

As announced by the Prosecutor’s Office, the detention may last until February 12, 2025 or until another court decision.

The detention was extended due to the risk that, if released, he could influence witnesses, conceal evidence or obstruct criminal proceedings.

As a reminder, Bošnjak was arrested on November 15 in an operation codenamed “Incitat 2”, which was carried out by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in cooperation with the Sarajevo Canton Anti-Corruption Office.

Operation “Incitat 2” was carried out based on orders from the Sarajevo Canton Court, and under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Office previously stated that during the search at the Ministry, documentation regarding illegal construction on Bjelašnica Mountain was seized.

The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office suspects a Bosniak of giving a positive opinion on the report on the strategic environmental impact assessment, which sought to legalize illegal urban construction projects on Bjelašnica by suspects Ibro Berilo, the mayor of Trnovo, and his associate Nađa Milišić.
