Minister of Security of BiH Nenad Nešić and director of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of BiH Žarko Laketa today visited the Una-Sana Canton and toured the Lipa Temporary Reception Center together with the Mayor of Bihac Elvedin Sedić and the Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration IOM Laura Lungarotti.

They were informed about the way of working and the conditions of stay in that center for the reception of migrants, which was built according to international standards two years ago.

It was established that the conditions for the migrants’ stay are extremely good and that there are no major problems in the daily functioning and provision of accommodation, food and other needs for around 253 migrants currently staying in Lipa.

Also, Nešić and Laketa were informed about the construction of accommodation for the temporary detention of migrants. It was established that the facility, i.e. the containers, were not put into operation and no one lives in them. The manner of their use will be subsequently decided in accordance with positive regulations and laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The delegation of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and SPS held a meeting in Bihać with the representatives of the Government of Una Sana Canton, led by Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić.

The meeting discussed the coordination of activities between all levels of government in migration management, as well as the need for timely exchange of information with the aim of better and more efficient cooperation in that area, announced the Ministry of Security of BiH.
