The Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected the appeal of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office against the acquittal of Ramiz Dreković for crimes in Kalinovik in 1995. The first instance acquittal was confirmed as final, Dreković’s lawyer Mirsad Crnovšanin confirmed for BHRT.

Dreković was accused of war crimes in the area of Kalinovik. The indictment states that Dreković, as commander of the 4th Corps of the Army of Republic of BiH, acted contrary to the rules of international humanitarian law during the state of war and the armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina between the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Army of the Republika Srpska.

The indictment accused Dreković of ordering indiscriminate attacks on Serbian civilians in Kalinovik to the artillery units of the 4th Corps in the town of Bjelimići (Konjic municipality) in the period from May 21 to June 7, 1995.

Dreković’s trial lasted from March 2019 to March 2023.
