Deputy Chair of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Dragan Covic yesterday spoke with the High Representative of the international community in BiH Christian Schmidt about the current political situation in BiH, with particular emphasis on the urgent need to implement reforms that are key for the country’s progress on its European path.

There was also discussion of other priority issues, such as the need to amend the BiH Election Law, it was stated in the announcement from the Office of the Deputy Chair of the House of Peoples of the PABiH Dragan Covic.

Covic and Schmidt stated that, for the realization of BiH’s European perspective, it is necessary to ensure functional institutions, encourage dialogue, and preserve peace, stability, and the territorial integrity of the country.

Covic particularly emphasized the need to amend the Election Law of BiH, respect the constitutional structure of BiH, and implement the decision of the BiH Constitutional Court on legitimate political representation no. U-23/14, and ensure the equality of all three constituent peoples as the basis for making all political and institutional decisions.

Finally, Covic emphasized that it is a shared responsibility of domestic and international actors to ensure that BiH is a stable, functional, and European-oriented state, the statement said.
