The State Police Department of Salzburg reported this morning that the Cirrus SR-20 sports plane crashed in St. Andrä im Lungau on Thursday around 15:45.
According to the Austrian media, the small plane took off from Zagreb about two hours earlier with four people.
Salzburg was announced as the destination airport. All four passengers are believed to have died at the scene of the crash. The identity of the passenger is not yet known.
In order to clarify the cause of the accident, the public prosecutor’s office in Salzburg ordered the hiring of an air accident expert who went to the crash site. The first expert examinations were carried out on the spot with the presence of an expert.
Furthermore, the seizure of the plane wreckage and the autopsy of the body were ordered. The wreckage was removed by members of the CSO St. Andrä, Tamsweg and Ramingstein, as well as members of the Tamsweg mountain rescue service, and transported in a suitable vehicle to the road maintenance site in Mauterndorf for further expert assessment, Klix.ba reports.
