Croatian President: No One Will Enter The EU Anymore, Except Maybe Montenegro

President of Croatia Zoran Milanovic said that countries are being deceived that they will become members of the European Union (EU), which no one will enter anymore, except maybe Montenegro.

“Countries are being deceived with false promises that they will become members of the EU in order to gain some concessions,” said Milanovic.

He added that others are expected to subordinate their foreign policy to the interests of the Union, and that means confrontation with Moscow, as is being done with Georgia, which has strong economic growth thanks to its geographical position.

He assessed that the EU is no longer the power it is considered to be and that the main players on the world stage are the United States (U.S.) and China.

According to him, Europe no longer has resources and is not a leader in innovation and knowledge, Croatian media report.

He added that the success of the EU lies in the fact that it has prevented conflicts and territorial ambitions between its members, regardless of the occasional flare-ups.

Speaking about NATO Article 5, which was created in 1949 and is guided by the principle “all for one, one for all”, Milanovic said that the crucial part of the text is that “NATO members will respond in an appropriate way depending on the assessment, including the use of military force”.

Milanovic stated that Croatia will behave in solidarity within the military alliance, but only to a certain extent.
