Following the questioning of the suspect, Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed a motion for remand in custody to the Court of BiH for the suspect Mehmet Tink (1956), a citizen of the Republic of Turkey.

The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and is suspected to have, in the aim of obtaining property gain i.e. for an agreed amount attempted to illegally transfer three citizens of the Republic of Turkey across the state border of BiH towards Germany or EU countries. The three citizens in question did not meet the requirements for entry and stay in BiH.

Remand in custody was proposed on grounds stipulated in Article 132 (a) and (b) of the CPC BiH i.e. the risk of flight of the suspect to his home country, which would render him unavailable to BiH judicial authorities, as well as the risk that the suspect could interfere with the investigation, conceal evidence and influence the witnesses or accomplices.

The suspect is charged with the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 (1) in conjunction with Article 26 of the CC BiH.
