The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović, after taking office in Sarajevo today, held a press conference in East Sarajevo and on that occasion said it was important to “provide stability to all citizens of the RS and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, meaning that many projects, which have been pending for years, have to be unblocked”.

“It is necessary to build good relations with the neighboring countries, but also with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. For any solution, it is necessary to have dialogue and agreement. Also, it is necessary to create partnerships and friendships that will enable us to survive this difficult time more easily, and also to build and deepen an already existing political understanding,” stated Cvijanović.

At the inauguration held in the BiH Presidency, she said she witnessed  “stories about imaginations and desires, not what is a constitutional category”.

“I emphasize what is the constitutional reality. I am a legalist and I want to preserve the organic connection with Republika Srpska, because the citizens elected me. I want us to be the subjects, each in accordance with our constitutional competencies and each with what the Constitution has given us as our right,”  emphasized Cvijanović.

After the general elections in BiH, she said that “Republika Srpska was the first in BiH to succeed in forming a government.”

The newly elected president of the entity of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik congratulated her on taking over the duty of the Presidency chair at the press conference and said that “Republika Srpska is not against agreeing on some form of court and prosecutor’s office,” stating that the Court and the BiH Prosecution do not have a constitutional basis and that they have been imposed by high representatives.

“We will not tolerate this Court and the Prosecutor’s Office for much longer. We will bring back the referendum on the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office, which they are very afraid of, and we will decide when we will do it,” said Dodik.

He added that they intend to change the Constitution of Republika Srpska and to harmonize that Constitution “with the most comprehensive needs for the present and the future Republika Srpska”.

“We will do many things to improve the situation. In December, we will pass new laws that treat defamation and lies and try to introduce more order into that disordered system of defamation, slander, lies, inciting gossip and insults that we have lately, witnessed” said Dodik.
