Cvijanovic: The Situation in BiH is dramatic, the biggest Crisis since 1995

The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, stated today in Azerbaijan that the situation in BiH is “dramatic” and that it is the biggest crisis since the signing of the Dayton Agreement.

At a panel discussion at the Global Baku Forum, Cvijanović said that BiH is “a failed country in which the legally and democratically elected President of Republika Srpska is the victim of a fabricated judicial persecution, initiated on the basis of a decision by an illegal and unelected foreigner”.

She added that the “unelected foreigner”, as Republika Srpska officials call the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, does not represent anyone and does not have the right to pass laws, because it is not granted by Annex 10 of the Dayton Agreement, the BiH Presidency announced.

Cvijanović said that this represents “the pinnacle of unconstitutional and anti-Dayton foreign interventionism, which has severely contaminated democratic development, the rule of law and the reconciliation process in BiH in the last 30 years”.

She stated that the only solution for BiH is “to urgently eliminate the consequences of the harmful actions of foreigners, and for all future decisions to be exclusively the result of internal dialogue between democratically elected representatives within domestic institutions.”
