Iraqi security forces, with the support of international coalition forces, have eliminated one of the leaders of the “Islamic State”, known as Abu Hadi, who is considered one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said.
“The heroes of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, with the support and coordination of the Joint Operations Command and the International Coalition forces, successfully eliminated the terrorist Abdullah Maki Muslih al-Rufai, known as Abu Hadi,” the Iraqi prime minister wrote on the “X” platform.
He stated that Abu Hadi was considered one of the most dangerous terrorists in Iraq and the world.
Al-Sudani said that Hadi held high positions in this extremist group.
“Islamic State” militants seized about a third of Iraq’s territory in the summer of 2014.
With the support of the international coalition, Iraqi government forces began a major campaign in 2015 to liberate these areas.
In December 2017, then-Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the complete defeat of the “Islamic State”.
However, security agencies continue to conduct operations in various parts of the country to destroy the terrorist underground, whose members have carried out attacks on police, military and civilians.
