danielsson 2After a meeting of the delegation of the European Union and representatives of authorities of Maglaj and Doboj,   it was concluded that it is necessary to assess damages caused by floods in Doboj and Maglaj, in order for local communities to receive help from the EU.

Christian Danielsson , Managing Director of the Directorate General for Enlargement of the European Commission, accompanied by Ricardo Zapata,  Chief Coordinator of the European Union assessment during recovery, visited Doboj today.

“The EU is ready to support the reconstruction. It is important to know that you are not alone and that you have the support of the EU”, said Danielsson.

The Commission for assessing flood damage are currently on the territory of Doboj and they plan to finish the assessment until June 18 .

“The assistance by the EU is necessary in Doboj and Maglaj. In these cities streets are cleaned from the trash left by the flood. Also, we are facing with the lack of humanitarian aid,” said Jasmin Devedžić, Deputy Mayor of Maglaj .

He noted that the situation is getting better every day , however he noted that there is a problem of the flooded basement facilities. All in all, they are trying to resolve it.

The mayor of Doboj, Obren Petrovic said that for over 3 500 households or about 12,000 people from endangered areas are given food but that they are in need of humanitarian assistance.
