The Tennis Davis Cup of B&H traveled to Helsinki, where from 4 to 6 April they will play against the Finnish team the second round of the second group of the Euro-African Zone.
Damir Džumhur (160th on ATP list), Mirza Bašić (223.), Tomislav Brkić (474.) and Nerman Fatić (806.), will defend the colors of the B&H flag, and trainer Aljoša Pirić will lead the team.
Finland will perform in a changed composition in relation to their last match against Bulgaria, because due to injuries their second best tennis player Micke Kontinen (409.) will not play. The Finnish team is composed of Jarko Nieminen (40th on ATP list), Henrik Sillanpaa (715.), Juho Paukku (1451.) and Henri Kontinen (1699.).
In the absence of coach Amer Delić, trainer Aljoša Pirić expressed his satisfaction that he would lead the young and talented B&H team.
‘’In the match against Finland there are no favorites. We are all aware that it would be hard for Mirza and for Damir against Nieminen, but both of them already have wins against the top 100 players, and if they play as best as they can against Nieminen, everything is possible. But for us our priority remains to provide a point, or two, at other courts and in this way maintain pressure on the Finns during the entire weekend’’, said Pirić, who has been working and living in the USA for several years.
The winner of the match Finland-B&H for entrance to the first group of the Euro-African Zone will play as the host against the winner of the match between the host South African Republic and Lithuania.
