Defense Minister: The Time has come to begin the Discussion on the Abolition of Entities in BiH

The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, spoke on the occasion of the celebration of the unconstitutional “RS Day”, which was celebrated today in the smaller BiH entity.

“Year after year the commemoration of January 9, the so-called ‘RS Day’, becomes more and more provocative and it is obvious that it has gone too far. Despite the clear decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this unconstitutional celebration is used to openly deny the legal order of the state,” said Helez.

He added that the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina must react because ignoring the decisions of the Constitutional Court and continuous violation of the Constitution must not remain without legal consequences.

“One cannot ignore the historical fact that the RS was founded on the genocide of Bosniaks and other heinous war crimes. Its existence is in its very essence linked to criminal politics, ethnic cleansing and mass suffering. For many citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, January 9 is not a day of celebration, but a day of pain and remembrance. The former political leadership of the RS organized and carried out the genocide,” added Helez.

Today’s leadership, Helez points out, is organized and consciously blocking the Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a path that would bring a higher standard of living, strengthening justice, security and freedom to all citizens of this country.

“For all these reasons, I believe that the time has come to start a serious, reasoned scientific, professional, political and social discussion about the abolition of entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina is big enough and rich enough for all of us, and I am convinced that our homeland would be a fairer, more successful and more stable country without entity divisions,” he added.
