A delegation from the Korea Customs Service paid a visit to the Indirect Taxation Authority to conduct a feasibility study within the Consulting project of modernization of customs administrations. The Korean delegation visited the Banja Luka Airport customs office, Gradiška customs office and Banja Luka customs office where they were briefed on-site on the business processes at the Indirect Taxation Authority, as well as on the customs IT system.

The Korea Customs Service delegation consisted of Mr Ryu Seungh Ha, deputy managing director of the Incheon regional customs office – head of the delegation, Mr Kim Won Mo, KCS deputy managing director, Mrs Kim She Yeon, customs officer of the Incheon regional customs office and Mr Kim Chun II – IT communications specialist. The aim of the visit was to analyse and evaluate the state of affairs at the Authority and to propose an optimal modernization model accordingly.

Through this project, the Authority will receive valuable advice on how to improve and modernize its business processes, and it will get an opportunity to become a beneficiary of other projects supported by the Korea Customs Service. The implementation of the project is scheduled to begin in 2021. This visit provided the Korea Customs Service delegation with a better insight into the needs out in the field as well as with possibilities to improve and modernize the ITA.

The initiative to carry out this project was the result of a working visit by Mr Miro Džakula, Director of the ITA, to the Korea Customs Service. Future activities and further steps to be taken in order to ensure the success of the ITA modernization project were presented at the final meeting.
