The Delegation of the European Movement visited Central Bosnia Canton (SBK), where the President of the European Movement, Predrag Praštalo, spoke with the Premier of the Canton, Tahir Lendo.

Praštalo familiarized Lendo with the future activities of the organization, and most importantly spoke about the project “Europe in my school” and “Day of Europe in BiH 2013.”

It was pointed out that SBK in 2012 was voted “European Canton”, and in addition to that, SBK and the European Movement signed a Memorandum on “European Partnership” last year in the area of BiH’s EU integration process, whereby SBK became the first Canton in the FBiH as an associate (collective) member of the European Movement.

Lendo also supported the work and activities of the European Movement, and pointed out that Central Bosnia Canton is especially interested in progress and to accelerate the process of EU integration, and going in this direction, serious attention is given to expanding and strengthening the institutional capacity of Cantons that will deal with this issue.

Accordingly, it was agreed that the European Movement will submit to the SBK government a proposal and plan of joint activities to celebrate Day of Europe and other projects, whose goal is to promote EU integration, economic integration of businesses and regional cooperation.

After the meeting with Lendo, the European Movement delegation visited the Municipality of Travnik, where Praštalo spoke with the mayor Admir Hadžiemrić.

They discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the process of EU integration in BiH, as well as joint activities in the area of projects to celebrate Day of Europe, and undertakings of business associations from Turkey and BiH, which is financed by the Embassy of Turkey.

It was agreed that the Municipality of Travnik and the European Movement will sign a Memorandum on cooperation in the process of EU integration at the end of January.

The Delegation visited the Municipality of Visoko, and the mayor, Amra Babić and Praštalo agreed that the process of EU integration holds a vital importance for BiH society.

Babić said that between the return to the past and the future road to Europe, without question the future is Europe, while we all have to learn from the mistakes made in the past.

Praštalo congratulated Babić on her electoral win, and stressed that it is a major contribution to have a female actively included in politics.

Babić gladly accepted the offer of the European Movement to sign a “Memorandum of European Partnership” with the Municipality of Visoko, whereby this community will become a member-partner of the leading NGO’s in the process of EU integration.
