The Deputy Director of the Border Service of the United Kingdom, Jack Joseph, was on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on that occasion he met with the Director of the Border Police (GP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirko Kuprešaković.

During the meeting, they discussed the competences and current activities of the Border Police of BiH, with a focus on the fight against cross-border and organized crime, especially in the segment of illegal migration and people smuggling, which in recent years represents one of the most demanding security challenges in the work of this police agency, the GP of BiH announced.

Director Kuprešaković pointed out that the engagement of members of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) at the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina represents a significant contribution to strengthening the security of the state border and additional support to domestic capacities.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on other current security topics and the possibilities of further improvement of cooperation between the competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom.

Also, Director Kuprešaković thanked the Government of the United Kingdom for its continuous support through donations of specialist equipment and training of police officers, which further strengthened the operational and investigative capacities of the BiH Border Police in undertaking daily operational activities aimed at preventing illegal migration and all forms of cross-border crime, as well as border surveillance.
