‘Diaspora Days’ to be held in Travnik

This week, Travnik will be celebrating Diaspora Days, which, along with numerous promotions, exhibitions and concerts, will focus on meetings between potential investors and representatives of the government and domestic businessmen. Aware of the strength of the citizens of this country, of whom, according to the World Federation of Diaspora, about two million live in fifty countries – in Travnik they want to offer them a hand of cooperation for the sake of common interest.

The first meetings of the diaspora in Travnik last year resulted, admittedly, in small, but still initial steps in which those who were forced to leave Bosnia and Herzegovina for various reasons – decided to build some new bridges by investing in the country of their birth.

“After that, there are our fellow citizens, one from Travnik, one from Kozarac, who have been living in Switzerland for many years – they founded a company here,” points out Azem Ejubović, assistant mayor of the Municipality of Travnik.

And it was precisely the goal to test, they say, the concept of extending a hand of cooperation to Bosnians and Herzegovinians scattered around the world in which many have built enviable careers, to confirm it in the country they left.

“We are looking for an interest that they will recognize – that we create conditions for the creation of new businesses and new jobs where they will be able to fertilize their capital, and at the same time, instead of the relatives they send to, they can employ them”, explains the Mayor of Travnik Municipality, Kenan Dautović.

The first part of the week is dedicated to socializing during numerous cultural events, and the central event is planned for Friday, where, with the presence of domestic and international officials and businessmen, investment opportunities in Travnik and BiH will be discussed.

About 20 businessmen from Australia, the UAE, Switzerland, Germany, the USA, Austria and Slovenia have announced their participation in the round table on the topic “Investing in Travnik, investing in the future”, adds Ejubović.

They are aware here that, in contrast to many years of agreeing in humanitarian aid, such meetings where the interest should be clearly defined should have been organized much earlier, but it is never too late. It is clear that everything has an expiration date, except for interest, which is eternal.
