Dino Beganović, a Swede with Bosnian roots, behind the wheel of Hitech TGR, achieved his first victory in Formula 2 at the sprint race in Baku, with a dominant performance that left his competitors behind and showed why he is expected to have a great future.
Beganović immediately took the lead from the second position at the start, taking advantage of the weaker exit from the first corner of leader Rafael Villagomez. Sebastian Montoya made his way behind him, while Villagomez soon dropped out of the race after contact with Martinius Stenshorne and Pepe Marti.
In the rest of the race, while light rain began to fall over Baku, Beganović continued to build a large lead.
Although his four-second advantage was nullified at one point by the safety car, he managed to break away again and control the pace all the way to the finish.
Luke Browning was able to pass Montoya to finish second, while third place went to Alex Dunne.
Leonardo Fornaroli is the leader in the general standings with 178 points, while Beganović is eighth with 81 points.
