Divinskij and Kosarac: Russia is not interfering in the Internal Affairs of BiH

Our country and the Russian Federation have good, friendly relations and that country is not interfering with the internal affairs of BiH, as noted after a meeting of state parliamentarians of the two countries that was held in Sarajevo.

The Russian Federation is the seventh foreign trade partner and the fourth most important investor in BiH, but there is a lot of space for improvement of economic relations, especially in terms of export of agricultural and food products to the market of Russia, as well as in the field of energy and tourism.

The two countries have good cooperation in the field of higher education as well, and they presented data that between 40 and 50 state scholarships are awarded to students from BiH. At the meeting was agreed to further intensify cooperation between the Parliament of BiH and Russia.

Russian delegation led by a deputy in the State Duma of the Russian Federation Igor Divinskij stated that the visit of this delegation represents the first step in a series that are aimed at the development of relations between parliamentarians.

“We are two nations with common roots and I believe that we have many possibilities for mutual exchange of experiences on different issues. The rich experience of the people in BiH should be known all over the world,” said the Russian parliamentarian.

Member of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) in the House of Representatives PABiH and member of the Friendship Group for Central and Eastern Europe Stasa Kosarac thanked the guests from Russia for the realization of the Agreement on clearing debt of the Russian Federation because BiH is the only country from the territory of the former Yugoslavia whose debt, which amounted to 125 million USD, was entirely paid in cash.

He also commented some of the headlines that appeared in the media, which, according to him, misrepresented the role that Russia has in BiH. He stated that Russia clearly presents its stands, does not condition or blackmail anyone, but it represents a constructive factor in the process of preserving the peace, stability and principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
