Dodik once again threatened to declare the Independence of the RS

The President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik once again declared that this entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)would declare independence on the same day if the High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt imposed a law on state property.

“If something like that happens, the decision on independence can be expected the same night. All formal legal matters are on our side,” said Dodik.

Assessing that it is high time for an essential discussion within BiH, Dodik emphasized that the RS is only interested in BiH, which is provided for by the Constitution.

“We are not interested in another BiH, even this one as it functions now. Everything outside the Constitution must be reviewed and re-agreed on,” Dodik said.

He also said that BiH “definitely does not have jurisdiction over the army, indirect taxes, intelligence service, courts and prosecutor’s office according to the Constitution of BiH“, adding that the issues of entity jurisdiction in these areas will be put back on the agenda if “the rule of law returns to the scene”.

Milorad Dodik, President of the RS, Zeljka Cvijanovic, member of the Presidency of BiH, Prime Minister of the RS Radovan Viskovic, President of the National Assembly of the RS (NARS) Nenad Stevandic and Entity Minister of Justice MilosBukejlovic are under United States (U.S.) sanctions due to threats to the Dayton Peace Agreement.

In July, the High Representative of the International Community in BiH, Christian Schmidt, annulled the anti-Dayton laws adopted by the NARS in connection with the non-publication of the decisions of the High Representative and the non-application of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

Dodik repeated that the RS “rejects the indictment that was confirmed against him and the acting director of the Official Gazette, Milos Lukic“, assesing them as “politically motivated”, Slobodna Evropa reports.
