Dodik: Republika Srpska Not Responsible for Constitutional Crisis, Open to Dialogue

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said today in Doboj that Republika Srpska did not cause the constitutional and legal crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but, as he states, “only reacted to attempts to destroy its constitutional capacity”.

Dodik believes that the crisis was caused by the Court of BiH, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and High Representative Christian Schmidt.

“A foreigner intervenes in the laws, and the most important institutions in BiH remain silent about the violation of rights,” Dodik said at a press conference after a meeting of representatives of parliamentary parties, which Dodik convened.

He said that it is important to conduct “dialogue, not diktat”, adding that dialogue is a recommendation of the UN Security Council, while respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dodik told the parties that did not respond to the invitation to today’s meeting in Doboj that RS is open to dialogue whenever they are ready.

Dodik stated that RS is reading and recording their non-response to today’s talks.

“We offered a declaration and we believe that there are not many unclear things. We confirmed the territorial integrity of BiH and sovereignty in accordance with the Constitution of BiH,” Dodik said after the meeting of party representatives.

He pointed out that it was precisely those who did not come to the meeting who did not respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH in accordance with the Constitution of BiH.

Dodik stated that the declaration also listed remaining open issues related to BiH’s European path.

He emphasized that they wanted to familiarize the partners with the agreement of the coalition in Germany, which advocates stopping the accession until the EU resolves the issue of internal relations through reforms, i.e. the abolition of consensus as a method of voting and the introduction of majority voting.

“As far as I know, most countries do not want that,” Dodik emphasized.

He asked why work on European issues would be done if EU accession were suspended.

“Why would we give up part of our sovereignty without having any indication of when the problem in the EU will be resolved?” Dodik asked.

Representatives of parties from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as opposition parties from Republika Srpska, did not attend the meeting.
