biciklisti?ka kacigaThe legal obligation of wearing a helmet during cycling has been reversed for cyclists in B&H. This is something new that will be found in the amendment to the Law on road safety in B&H after the proposal sent by the entity and cantonal ministries of interior.

The applicable law provides for the compulsory use of safety helmets during cycling. With a detailed analysis of the problems in the application of such a law, the conclusion came that such a provision has a disincentive effect on the extent of use of the bicycle as a means of transport in the city/town. With the proposed changes, the cyclist is obligated to use a protective helmet outside cities.

The novelty in the law will be the reversal of the obligation to wear reflective vests for cyclists. It will be enough to possess the adequate equipment that ensures adequate visibility of the cyclist or the bike.
