The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has granted Kosovo citizenship to singer Dua Lipa. She shared photos of the special moment on social media.

“Welcome home, Dua! It is a special honor for me to have granted the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo today, by presidential decree, to Dua Lipa, one of the most important cultural and artistic figures in the history of our country,” Osmani wrote.

She added that Dua and Kosovo have always been inseparable and that she continues to be one of the most powerful voices on the world’s biggest stages, making history with her achievements and becoming an inspiration to millions of people around the world.

“Our gratitude is endless for everything Dua has done and continues to do for Kosovo, for our youth, for our art and for the international image of our country. Dua, Kosovo is always proud of you,” she said.

The event was also attended by her father, Dukagjin Lipa, who was born in Pristina. Her mother, Anesa Lipa, is originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
