Milan Dunovic, representative of the Democratic Front in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), told that it was not wise, as Christian Schmidt said, that the high representative did not go to Banja Luka, and that Schmidt obeyed the will of the SNSD leader, Milorad Dodik with his move. Dunovic said that “there were threats in 1992 as well, so we did not retreat“. In a live interview, he also pointed out that the strongest coalition in the country is the one between HDZ and SNSD, because “they have a common goal – breaking up BiH” and that they are “successfully doing it”. He accused the Coalition of Three of giving in to their demands.
Comment on the latest conflict between Schmidt and Dodik and the fact that the high representative, although he announced, did not go to Banja Luka in the end?
What to say? Why did he announce and why didn’t he go? And what do you mean barricades? I did not notice that anyone reported on the barricades in Banja Luka. It can be said that Schmidt obeyed the will of Dodik, and why he does it is known only to him.
Who is the winner in this story?
Obviously, Dodik is the winner. He has defined political goals and does not hide them. And he’s constantly pushing the boundaries. The question for Schmidt is why he allows the boundaries to be pushed. Dodik retorted within 24 hours because since the arrest of Schmidt he ended up throwing eggs, but then Schmidt gave him strength by not going to Banja Luka.
Many believe that the main reason for Dodik’s attacks on Schmidt is the issue of state property?
We come to what Dodik says publicly. He said again that state property cannot be state property and belongs to the entities. He publicly said that if the high representative makes a decision according to which the property belongs to BiH, he will declare the secession of the Republika Srpska (RS) and bring the police to the entity line. He does not hide it, and Schmidt does not go to the RS and does not introduce any measures. This (what Dodik is doing) is, to say the least, subject to criminal prosecution and the use of Bonn powers. I have a question for the high representative: If he is preparing a decision (which will not please Dodik), what will he do with the threats?
Is Schmidt allowed to come to the RS?
In the past two days, he was not allowed. If he announced, he should have gone to Banja Luka.
Schmidt said in the interview that the barricades were set?
They were also prepared in 1992 so what, should we have been “wise” like Schmidt and not defend ourselves? It is not wise to retreat in the face of a threat. In addition to wisdom, courage is also needed. Giving in to Dodik will not result in a new Dodik, but will result in a new movement of the boundaries.
Even the opposition in the RS did not accept a meeting with the high representative?
The opposition in RS often makes strange decisions, at least in my opinion. Often they do exactly as Dodik wants and then he presents himself as the big head of the entity.
Entity vice-president from HDZ BiH Davor Pranjic did not have time to meet with Schmidt, but later met with Dodik. Is this an obvious HDZ support for Dodik?
It’s a constant. The strongest coalition in the country is the one between HDZ and SNSD because they have common goals. Those goals are breaking up BiH, and they are doing it successfully. Now their partner is Coalition of Three which will give in to their demands, N1 reports.
