Sarajevo Canton is the first canton to make the Action Plan for fight against corruption in the period 2015-2019, because it was assessed that fight against corruption in BiH is very important and represents the biggest focal point of issues in the BiH society.

Assistant to the director of the Agency for prevention of corruption and coordination of the fight against corruption in BiH (APIK) Mevludin Džindo believes that there is a gap between the perceptions of corruption which is at a high level, indicated so by non-governmental organizations, and the judgments in corruptive criminal cases. Džindo highlighted that this gap must definitely be eliminated systematically, “that a line must be drawn so that we know where we are standing in assessment of the level of corruption in BiH”.

Furthermore, Džindo added: “We are currently in the stage of forming the ‘backbone’ of corruption in BiH, and today’s event is just one in a series of events. Today we are educating 300 contact spots in the Sarajevo Canton who will be the coordinators of the prevention of corruption in public institutions in the Sarajevo Canton in the future”.

“What we really need now is the prevention of corruption; we must eliminate conditions for the appearance of corruption. If we do not do that, I think we will be facing arrests, opening of bombastic cases day after day, year after year, while actually not decreasing the conditions that will eliminate such occurrences,” Džindo pointed out.

Today’s training is organized in cooperation with the Agency for prevention of corruption and coordination of fight against corruption in BiH, within the project “Strengthening of communication capacities of the Agency for prevention of corruption and coordination of the fight against corruption in BiH”.
