Pope Francis' Easter VigilPope Francis led the Easter Vigil on Saturday night at the Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican and invited Catholics to learn from Jesus’ disciple and seek for miracles of faith.

Mass of the Easter Vigil, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, is the highlight of the Christian year for 1.2 billion Catholics. During the celebration, the Pope shared the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion to believers of various ages and nationalities.

During the Mass, Pope Francis spoke about how to experience the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection through humbleness, abandonment of egoism and through recognition that we all are beings that have their strengths but also their weaknesses, who sin but who are willing to forgive and ask for forgiveness.

‘’ The women who were Jesus’s disciples teach us all of this. They kept watch that night, together with Mary. And she, the Virgin Mother, helped them not to lose faith and hope. As a result, they did not remain prisoners of fear and sadness. They realized miracle of the resurrection, “said Pope.

Memorial of disciple is unusual in the Italian language, and many conclude that in this way, the Pope wanted to insist on the role of women in the Church, which is dominated by men.
