Albania is among the most advanced countries in the process of joining the European Union, but the adoption and consistent implementation of additional reforms will be necessary to close the negotiation chapters, the European Commission announced.
Brussels points out that the opening of all negotiation clusters is a significant step forward, with an emphasis on strengthening administrative capacities and further progress in the rule of law.
“We consider it important to strengthen the capacities and structures of the public administration of Albania in order to support the membership process and the implementation of EU legislation,” the EC’s response to the Albanian Post states.
The Commission says that the pace of accession will depend solely on the fulfillment of the criteria, especially in more demanding areas such as agriculture, resources and cohesion.
