The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, signed an agreement on Friday for the construction of the Dubai Loop project with Elon Musk’s infrastructure company, The Boring Company, the Dubai Media Office announced.

The project between the Roads and Transport Authority and Musk’s company has a capacity of 160.000 passengers per hour and a track length exceeding 100 kilometers.

Dubai Loop is a high-speed transportation network.

The underground transportation system, spanning 17 km, will have eleven stations and is designed to transport more than 20.000 passengers per hour.

The project will allow direct travel to the destination station without stops in between. Traveling at speeds of up to 160 km per hour, the loop will be powered by electric vehicles.

Elon Musk previously confirmed plans to enter into a partnership with Dubai for the development of the project while speaking via video link at the World Government Summit on Thursday.

The futuristic transportation system will connect major hubs across Dubai, reducing travel time between key points in the emirate to just a few minutes.
