Embassy Of Serbia In BiH Criticized BiH FM Over Visit To Kosovo

Sarajevo, June 3, 2025 — The Embassy of Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) expressed “deep concern” regarding yesterday’s meeting of the BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konakovic with representatives of the authorities in Pristina and expressed hope that the institutions of BiH would “clarify the circumstances of this visit.”

“With a reminder that BiH does not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, any steps implying the development of relations with the provisional self-government institutions in Pristina can be interpreted as a deviation from the official policy of BiH, a potential threat to regional stability, and as unilateral moves that undermine trust and cooperation in the region,” the embassy posted on the X network.

The embassy stated that Serbia “consistently advocates for dialogue as the only way to resolve open issues, but insists on consistent respect for international law and norms, according to which, as well as according to the Constitution of Serbia, Kosovo, and Metohija is an integral part of Serbia, which also represents the official position of BiH.”

“We express hope that the institutions of BiH will clarify the circumstances of this visit, carried out contrary to the official position of BiH on the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, and confirm their commitment to common principles that contribute to peace and stability in the region,” the Embassy of Serbia in BiH stated.

Konakovic visited Pristina at the invitation of the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, to participate in the International Forum on Women, Peace, and Security.
