Iranian state media published information and released photographs of the visit by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to the mausoleum of the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ruhollah Khomeini.

According to Iranian media, the visit was carried out at the beginning of the marking of the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the start of the Ten Days of Dawn events.

During the visit, the leader of the Islamic Revolution paid tribute to the founder of the Islamic Republic by reciting verses from the Qur’an and performing prayers at the mausoleum.

The visit comes at a sensitive security and geopolitical moment for Iran. Numerous reports state that a United States (U.S.) attack on Iran is almost inevitable, and although the scope of a possible attack is not clear, according to some sources, the leaders of the state could also be targets.

Iranian military leaders have sent a message that any attack on Iran would lead to a general war.
