The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced today that the indictments of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the President of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and the Director of the Official Gazette of the RS Miloš Lukić are an important step in the implementation of the rule of law, which is the foundation of every democracy.

“The laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina apply to all citizens. No individual is above the law,” stated the Embassy.

“We expect the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all citizens to respect the relevant processes involved in complying with those laws,” the announcement reads.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against the president of the entity Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and the acting director of the Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska Miloš Lukić, charging them with the criminal offense of failure to implement the decisions of the high representative from the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.

Dodik signed the decree on the promulgation of the law on the non-publication of the decisions of the High Representative in the Official Gazette of the RS and the decree on the promulgation of the law on the non-implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH in the territory of that entity.
