Civil association “Zelena rijeka” from Konjic, with support from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of FBiH and the Municipality of Konjic, is organizing the first Neretva Media Regatta which is to be held on June 3 and 4, 2016 in Konjic.
The aim of Neretva Media Regatta is the preservation of natural beauties of the Konjic region, promotion of Konjic as a tourist destination, and the use of raised funds for the purposes of restocking the Neretva River.
Neretva Media Regatta is the association’s response to the needs related to the protection of this natural area and restocking the Neretva River with domestic types of fish which are almost extinct in this river. Neretva Media Regatta will draw attention of the public to the current state of the river, the activities going on in this area, and eventual improvements in the protection of flora and fauna.
It is planned that the participants of this competition be representatives of all media from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina who will compete in rafting down the Neretva River. Competitors’ task is to finish descending as soon as possible, from Džajića buk to the Old Bridge in Konjic, from where they will head towards the ship on the Jablaničko Lake. Every boat is to be managed by a crew consisted of six members (two representatives from each of three different media) with a professional skipper, who will be in charge of the safe descend and support to the competitors.
Civil association “Zelena rijeka” Konjic was founded in 2011 with the aim of executing activities in the field of environmental protection, especially of water surfaces in this region. The association actively works on the maintaining of natural balance of flora and fauna in the Neretva River, Boračko Lake, Jablaničko Lake, and the mountain areas of the Konjic Municipality.
