Éowyn, the Storm of the Century: Meteorologists Issue Red Alert

Ireland is facing the arrival of one of the most powerful storms in decades, named Éowyn.

Severe Weather Europe writes that the storm is developing into a “bomb cyclone” and is threatening the west coast of the country with extreme winds and dangerous conditions that could endanger human life.

The Irish Met Office has issued a red alert for the entire country, the highest level of alert. Winds of up to 200 km/h are expected, especially on the west coast. Experts believe this could be one of the most destructive storms in Ireland’s modern history. A red warning has been issued for the whole country due to the approaching storm Éowyn. Waves higher than 12 meters and extremely low atmospheric pressure are expected, reports 24sata.

The storm will go through “bombogenesis”, a process in which the air pressure drops sharply, which further increases its strength. A dramatic drop in pressure is forecast, causing disruptions to traffic, infrastructure, the risk of flooding in coastal areas and possible power outages.

Citizens advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from the coast, prepare supplies in case of power outages and follow official warnings to stay safe during the storm.

Storm Éowyn will not only hit Ireland, but will also affect western Europe, including Northern Ireland, Scotland and parts of England Meteorologists are warning of the possibility of additional, albeit weaker, storms forming in the North Atlantic over the weekend. Residents of affected regions are urged to remain vigilant and monitor official information as this extreme weather situation continues.
