The spokesperson of the Federal Administration of Civil Protection, Majda Kovac, said that due to heavy rains that have been going on since yesterday, the situation is critical in several places, and that the worst is in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and Sarajevo Canton, where the population was evacuated.

“The river Tilava overflowed in Ilidža and flooded about 50 buildings in the settlement of Donji Kotorac (East Ilidža), the railway overflowed and flooded several buildings on Otes, Rakovički potok overflowed in Vlakovo and several buildings were endangered,” she said.

When it comes to the Sarajevo Canton, the situation is worst in Otes, where the municipal and cantonal civil protection services are evacuating the residents of the Barska settlement with fire trucks. Citizens are being moved from flooded houses to safe facilities, and a service has been hired to accommodate the endangered population.

Minor problems were caused in Buća Potok under the underpass and in Bratunačka Čikma Street, where a residential building was flooded.

The river Bosna overflowed in the settlement of Bojnik. On 10 transversals, water trapped several cars. In Trnovo, torrential waters flooded several buildings and a police station.
Trees were felled in several places in Sarajevo due to storm surges.
