EU Delegation: The Frequency of Attacks on Bosniak Returnees in the RS causes serious Concern

The European Union (EU) Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has issued a statement following the attack on Bosniak returnee Bahrudin Guso in the Drinsko settlement near Visegrad.

“The EU Delegation condemns the brutal attack on a Bosniak returnee in Visegrad that occurred on Tuesday. While the quick police response in arresting the alleged perpetrator is commendable, the increased frequency of attacks on Bosniak returnees in eastern BiH raises serious concerns,” the statement said.

The Delegation took this opportunity to call on the relevant authorities in Republika Srpska (RS) to do more to prevent crimes against Bosniak returnees and fully investigate, prosecute, and secure convictions for the perpetrators of the attacks.

Bahrudin Guso, a Bosniak returnee to the Drinsko settlement, was brutally beaten in Visegrad.

He was beaten by the driver of the mayor of Visegrad, causing him serious physical injuries.
