On Wednesday 22 May, Major General Martin Dorfer, who is approaching the end of his tenure as Commander of the EUFOR mission, paid office calls to the EU Special Representative, the High Representative, and the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Major General Dorfer today met officially, for the first time, with the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Milorad Dodik, in the Presidency building.

H.E. Dodik expressed his gratitude for the accomplishments of EUFOR Althea and for COMEUFOR’s personal engagement.

COMEUFOR underlined that he sees EUFOR’s main role in supporting the country on the path towards EU accession, being a “reassurance force”, COMEUFOR also stressed that EUFOR’s continuing co-operating with the Armed Forces of BiH will contribute to trust and confidence building.

H.E. Dodik acknowledged EUFOR’s role as an impartial actor, able to provide an objective and unbiased assessment of the security situation and contribute to a fact-based perception of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

COMEUFOR stated that EUFOR would continue to engage with all peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina and offer its good services to the country’s authorities.
