European Leaders visited Ukraine on the second Anniversary of the War

Four Western leaders visited Ukraine on Saturday to show support and solidarity as the war with Russia marks its second anniversary.

The Belgian, Canadian and Italian Prime Ministers, as well as the President of the European Commission, arrived in the city of Hostomel, 25 kilometers from Kyiv, together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to participate in the events organized by Kyiv.

In a video posted on Telegram, Zelensky thanked Alexander de Croo, Justin Trudeau, Giorgia Melona and Ursula von der Leyen for their help.

“Dear great people of great countries, I am immensely proud of each of you. I admire each of you. I believe in each of you. Every normal person wants the war to end,” Zelensky said.

He stressed that any peace agreement must be fair and that “in the future, the word independent will always appear next to the word Ukraine”.

“We are fighting for this. And we will win. I thank all our soldiers, our people and everyone around the world who stand by us and the truth,” said Zelenski.

Saturday marked two years since Russia began its war against Ukraine, as well as ten years since it illegally annexed the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

Top EU officials on Friday expressed the European bloc’s “strong and unwavering” support for Kiev in its fight against Russia, AA writes.
