The exhibition “From Words to Violence: Lives Beyond the Killing Fields” opened at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York on Tuesday, marking the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

The exhibition was jointly prepared by the Srebrenica Memorial Center and BIRN BiH, and the opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN Zlatko Lagumdžija, the Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center Emir Suljagić, and the Advisor to the UN Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflict Virginia Gamba.

The exhibition explores the connection between hate speech and genocide, with a strong message about the importance of remembrance, establishing the truth, and the need for global action against denial and hatred.

The exhibition is organized by the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, in cooperation with the UN Office for the Prevention of Genocide and the Department of Global Communications.

The exhibition will be open to the public until July 21, 2025.
