Currently, there is an extraordinary hydrological situation in the area of the Una, Sana, Sanica watersheds in the water area of the Sava River in the Federation of BiH, as was forecast on October 2, according to the information of the Agency for the Sava River Water Area on the current state of the water level, which was obtained based on analysis of currently recorded water levels on the hydrological monitoring system (automatic water measuring stations) in the water area of the Sava River.

Precipitation in the past 24 hours has caused the water level to rise at most water measuring stations in the Una-Sana, Central Bosnia, Zenica-Doboj and Sarajevo Cantons. When it comes to watercourses of category I, there is currently a water spill on the Sanica river. An extraordinary hydrological condition on watercourses of category II was registered in the upper part of the Bosna river basin.

Although precipitation is expected to stop during the day in the entire water area of the Sava River in
In the FBiH, the runoff will affect a slight increase in the water level on category I watercourses even during the weekend. Flash floods were recorded on watercourses of category II, on the rivers Lepenica, Kreševka, Fojnička rijeka, Bjelašnica and Stavnja. The cause of flash floods is a large amount of precipitation in a short period of time, unplanned and unprofessional construction and neglect of the flow profiles of category II watercourses.

Calming of the water level in torrential watercourses and withdrawal of water from flooded areas is expected during the day.

According to the results of forecast model simulations, the water level on the Sava River will rise in the coming days, but will not reach the values at which the regular defense against
flood in the area of Odžačka and Srednja Posavina.

Information about the forecast is given based on the forecasted precipitation data, so a change in the weather forecast can also affect the forecasted hydrological state. In the event of a significant change in weather conditions in the water area of the Sava River, AVP Sava will promptly issue a notification on the forecast of an emergency hydrological situation, the Agency for the Water Area of the Sava River Sarajevo announced.
