8,372 people, mostly men and boys, Bosniaks, were killed in the genocide in Srebrenica. Today marks 31 years since the crime before the eyes of the UN. They included 23 collective funerals.
The process of searching for the missing is nowhere near over. And the remains of 10 of them, after more than three decades, are coming home.

The youngest victim who will find eternal peace this year is Senad Jusić, who was 20 years old when he was killed, and the oldest Ramo Dautović, who was killed at the age of 56.

Decades of searching
Senad Jusić is the youngest victim of the genocide in Srebrenica who will be buried this year. He was only 20 years old when he was killed. He disappeared in an attempt to reach free territory. His remains were only found in 2022 and are incomplete. After more than three decades, the two brothers will rest next to each other.
Senad Jusić’s daughter-in-law Zirafeta Jusić says the family will finally have a place to honor their loved ones.
“Tomorrow I will bury my brother-in-law, my husband’s brother, here next to my husband. That is Senad Jusić, my children’s uncle,” Jusić said.
Speaking about the latest information about his fate, she explained that only parts of his remains were found.
“He was only twenty years old when he disappeared. We parted ways in Kutlića Rijeka. He was found on Kamenički brdo, where, according to what we heard, he died in the first ambush. His complete remains were not found – the skull is missing, the lower jaws, the cervical part of the spine, parts of the arms, shoulders, part of the spine and parts of the legs were found. These are the bones that were found and I agreed to be buried,” Jusić said.
His daughter Mediha Osmanović Đozić searched for the bones of Muhidin Osmanović’s father for decades. He remembers the last meeting with him.
“My mother, brother and I were there. He kissed me and my brother, left and we never saw him again,” said Osmanović Đozić.
Peace finally found
The remains of Muhidin Osmanović were first found in 2008, and were subsequently completed over the years. His family will finally send him to his eternal rest tomorrow.
“He was found in Vlasenica, under the bridge. Only two bones were found then. After 15 years, the rest, about 90 percent of the remains, were found. Now at least we know where his bones are and we can always come here. In earlier years, we didn’t even know where he was,” said Osmanović Đozić.
The place where they will be able to visit their loved ones is a common guide for all families who are still looking for them. The remains of the victims who will be buried tomorrow were found in the period from 1997 to 2022 in the localities of Kamenica, Jelovačka česma, Budak, Glogova, Kameničko brdo. This year, as in previous years, the remains are not complete, Federalna writes.
