Far away from the World’s Spotlight: Ethiopian Army executed many People

Human Rights Watch (HRW) claims that the Ethiopian army has executed many people in the Amhara region.

HRW has drawn attention to human rights violations in Ethiopia.

They allege that the Ethiopian army has executed many people in the Amhara region.

It has been reported that conflicts in the region have intermittently continued since August 2023.

It is also stated that military forces were involved in many human rights violations during that period.

An appeal has been made to the international community, especially the United Nations (UN) and the African Union, to “take precautionary measures against human rights violations allegedly committed in Ethiopia.”

In Ethiopia, the federal government signed a peace agreement with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) in November 2022. While all organizations in the region accepted disarmament, a militia group based in Amhara called “Fano” began to clash with the army.

The federal government declared a state of emergency on August 4th after conflicts intensified between the army and local militias in the Amhara region and announced that control was lost in some regions in Amhara on August 7th.

The African Union called for a cessation of hostilities between military units and rebels on August 16th.
