A total of 45 members of the Armed Forces of B&H (AF B&H) was farewell from barracks Dubrave near Tuzla in peace mission “Decisive mission” in Afghanistan, who will carry out their tasks for the next six months as the US contingent in Bagram.
This infantry unit of the Fifth Infantry Brigade of the AF B&H, which is including four women, underwent rigorous preparation in the past months and, according to their superiors, they are going fully prepared in Afghanistan.
“This is the end of the serious and demanding preparations and now we can start with the execution of the mission. The willingness of members was confirmed with the assessment, which culminated with target firing that we performed on the 24th of November. We equipped the unit within our possibilities, and my message to members of the AF B&H that we are saying goodbye, is to keep their unity and faith in each other. They must not forget that they are representing B&H, AF B&H and the Fifth Infantry Brigade. They will have members of friendly forces and soldiers from the United States there,” said Brigadier General Kenan Dautovic and wished good luck to soldiers with the “command” to return safe and sound.
According to Brigadier General Giselle M. Wilz, the commander of NATO Headquarters in B&H, these “boys will participate in the multinational environment, which means a lot for B&H and for the whole world.”
After the official part of the ceremony, the soldiers briefly gathered, and then said goodbyes to their friends and families.
“I am proud that someone from my family is going to important mission as this one, because these men and women have met the highest standards,” said Zdenko Prkic.
This is the fourth contingent on a voluntary basis of the brigade commanded by Dautovic, which is sent as the support to the peace missions.
