Farmers to protest in the Federation of BiH

Farmers from Posavina, with the support of their colleagues from other parts of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will today form a column of about a hundred tractors with which they will block the section of the Orašje – Tuzla road, thus expressing their dissatisfaction with the current status in this sector.

Participants of the protest will gather at 10:00 a.m. at the HNK Orašje stadium, and after the meeting, at 12:00 p.m., accompanied by the police, they will start blocking the road with tractors. Emergency passage will be provided on the secondary road.

The representative of the Orašje Farmers’ Association, Perica Marošević, said that this act is only the first warning move.

“Going out on the road is our first warning move, and in case of ignoring it, we will tighten and expand it. We want to fight for our betterment and even the survival of certain agricultural producers,” said Marošević.

Marošević points out that he would like there to be no blockade at all, but that they are ready for several days of protests.

“We can stay for three hours, or three days, or even more. Until our demands are met,” he says.

Some of the farmers’ demands are the payment of the promised aid for wheat produced in 2022/2023, the payment of compensation for euthanized pigs, the payment of overdue incentives, as well as an urgent meeting with the Minister of Agriculture regarding the question of how to start autumn sowing.

The list of requests is ready to be sent to the address of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry.
