Fenerbahce Players before the Disciplinary Commission for fighting with Fans

Three Fenerbahçe players were summoned to the Disciplinary Commission of the Turkish Football Association for fighting with Trabzonspor fans after the league match, the association announced today.

On March 17, a large number of fans stormed the field after the game that Trabzonspor lost 2:3 at home, while the Fenerbahçe players celebrated their victory.

The fans of the home team attacked the players and coach of the Istanbul club, while goalkeeper Dominik Livaković was hit in the head.

Fenerbahçe player Bright Osayi-Samuel punched a fan and will now have to appear before the Disciplinary Committee, just like Jayden Oosterwolde who kicked the same fan, the Turkish federation said.

Two Fenerbahçe employees have also been summoned, and Trabzonspor’s assistant coach will also appear before the Disciplinary Commission. The fight in Trabzon sparked strong reactions in Turkey, three months after club president Ankaragucu attacked the referee after the game. FIFA president Gianni Infantino condemned the violence as “absolutely unacceptable”.

After the fight, 13 Trabzonspor supporters were arrested, five of whom are in pre-trial detention.

Trabzonspor general secretary Kemal Erturk said last week that the fans were unjustly arrested and demanded that they be released as soon as possible, Beta news agency reports.
