The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) has deployed a smaller number of police officers to arrest Milorad Dodik in East Sarajevo on Wednesday in order to reduce the risk and avoid any potential conflict, the institution announced today.

SIPA announced that on April 23, police officers from the State Investigation and Protection Agency, in order to implement the orders of the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which relate to the deprivation of liberty of the suspect Milorad Dodik, due to suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of “Attack on the Constitutional Order” and information that the suspect is in the Administrative Center of the Government of Republika Srpska in East Sarajevo, approached the scene of the incident to implement the orders in question.

“In order to reduce the risk and avoid any potential conflict in the implementation of the aforementioned arrest orders, a smaller number of plainclothes police officers were deployed. This is also an indicator that the Agency is taking care not to endanger peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” SIPA stated.

Upon arrival in front of the Administrative Center of the Government of Republika Srpska, the police officers of this Agency found police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska who were providing security for the building of the Administrative Center, as well as security for the President of the BiH entity, who were informed by the police officers of this Agency about the reason for their arrival and the intention to implement the orders of the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which they were informed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska is taking measures and actions within its jurisdiction to protect the protected person in accordance with the laws of Republika Srpska, and that it will not allow the deprivation of liberty.

“For the above reasons, the order was not implemented, after which the police officers of the Agency left the scene,” they stated.

The Agency will submit appropriate reports on the activities carried out to the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
