Finance Minister: “Republika Srpska will not go Bankrupt, Debt is decreasing“

Republika Srpska Finance Minister Zora Vidović said that Republika Srpska will allocate 25.5 million BAM from the budget next year to support the economy with new technologies, and noted that the RS debt is not growing, as the opposition claims, but is falling.

“The public debt of Republika Srpska was the highest in 2005, at 53.68 percent of GDP, and now it is 33.33 percent. The debt is not growing, as the opposition claims, but falling. Republika Srpska will not go bankrupt, no matter who claims it. Better days are coming for us next year because we are fulfilling all obligations and implementing the agreed budget consolidation,” said Vidović in her closing remarks on the proposed Republika Srpska budget for next year, which amounts to 6.070 billion BAM.

She emphasized that Republika Srpska will by no means go bankrupt, as some domestic and foreign factors claim.

“The population of Republika Srpska will buy our bonds because it has about four billion BAM in bank deposits, of which one billion has been taken abroad. We want to return these funds to Republika Srpska and have them used here,” said Vidović.

She emphasized that pensions will continue to be paid in accordance with the solutions, which, she said, was not the case when the opposition was in power.

When it comes to last year’s spending of funds by the City Administration in Banja Luka, Vidović stated that opposition MPs should know that a negative assessment was given by state audit institutions.

The National Assembly of Republika Srpska considered this agenda item under urgent procedure, as well as the accompanying draft law on budget execution for the following year.

Yesterday, MPs considered the Draft Economic Reform Program of Republika Srpska for the period 2025-2027, under urgent procedure.
