houseThe Press Council in B&H will receive the financial aid of 49 940 Euros from the Embassy of Germany for development of the media auto-regulation and free journalism in B&H – was announced yesterday at the Press Council.

The ambassador of Germany in B&H Christian Hellbach and the executive director of the Press Council in B&H Ljiljana Zurovac will sign the contract today.

For the seventh year now, the Embassy of Germany in B&H supports the work of the auto-regulative body of B&H and signs an annual contract with the Press Council in B&H.

As a result of the results achieved and the professional cooperation realised up to now  and during 2014-2015, the German Embassy in Sarajevo will support the activities of the Press Council in B&H related to the development of the media auto-regulation as one of the key standards needed for development of free and professional journalism in a democratic society.

This financial aid is oriented to amelioration of the way citizens inform themselves about their right to receive an exact and objective information on time as well as to fight against hatred talk and strengthening a responsible and ethic media reporting based on professional directives from the Code for Press and online media in B&H.

With this contract, the financing of some earlier developed projects is also continued (The school of media ethics for the students of journalism in B&H, radio show “Your voice in the media – ZOOM” and the public campaign during the World Press Freedom Day).
