On this day, a year ago, a parents’ house was opened as a part of the Pediatric Clinic in the Clinical Centre of University in Sarajevo (KCUS).
The opening ceremony of the Parents’ House took place on the 26th of April 2016 at the locality of Betanija within the Pediatric Clinic of the CCUS.
Parents’ House provides continuous accommodation for children with cancer and their families, who are coming from outside of Sarajevo. The owner is the Association “Heart for the children with cancer in FBiH”.
Association “Heart for the children with cancer in FBiH” started with the project of Parents ‘House back in 2011 when the preliminary design of the Parents’ House was presented on the event of marking the International Childhood Cancer Day. After many obstacles, the Association managed to resolve the administrative obligations and the construction of the building started in March 2014.
Last year, the Government of Canton Sarajevo allocated 110,000 BAM for financing the work of this House.
Director of Vakuf Directorate of Islamic Community in B&H Senaid Zajimović and project manager of Association ‘’Srce za djecu koja boluju od raka’’ Fikret Kubat signed a contract on donation of 35.000 BAM for construction of Parents House as part of Pediatric Clinic Jezero in Sarajevo.
Moj San, the leading BiH producer of sleeping systems, joined the project of the construction of the Parents’ House and donated matrasses.
Parents’ House was built with the help of friends of children that are suffering from cancer. Thanks to the various donors who recognized the importance of this project, BiH now has its first Parents’ house, which represents the permanent good that will be used by children with cancer and their parents, medical staff as well as the wider community. Land for construction was provided by the University Clinical Centre in Sarajevo (UCCS). Parents’ House for children suffering from cancer will have 666 m2, it will have a basement, ground floor and three floors, 10 apartments, multi-functional room with a playground and a living room, a shared kitchen and dining room, multifunctional hall and rooms for the Association.
